Arsenal and Aubameyang kick off the weekend with a hosting of Burnley who last time out stunned Southampton with a 3-0 drubbing and will be looking to continue that form. That though, could all come to an end away to the Gunners and the Gabonese international. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a relatively quite game away to Newcastle United last time out, only for the goal that he did score, which in my opinion was a well taken goal, he would not be in the running as much for this week’s captain pick.

The problem with captaining Aubameyang over Salah, is the time of the game. Arsenal and Burnley’s game starts at 12:45pm which means that it is the first game of the weekend. It is the consensus that, at least at the start of the season, you captain a player when the weekend is well underway. So, that is why I am slightly against captaining Aubameyang straight out of the gate and waiting, because we all know how, the majority of us captained Salah last weekend and Raheem Sterling decided to score a hat-trick and leave us who captained Salah scratching our heads as to why.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s price also comes into consideration when it comes to picking him this weekend. Aubameyang is priced at 11.0 and his price can definitely go upwards once the season starts to progress. So, if you are looking for bonus points and goals from a striker this weekend, go for Pierre Aubameyang, because he scores goals.

Everyone though and “their mother” will be going for Mohammad Salah and perhaps at the start of the season, it is good not to go against the grain or the crowd. Salah has been picked by 45% of Fantasy managers at the start of the season and if he manages to have a great game against Southampton and you don’t have him, it will come back to bite you.

Salah’s price tag of 12.5 certainly comes into play, when picking him, let alone captaining him. We all know it is a considerable investment and risk to take on a player. But, look who we are talking about, it is Mohammad Salah after all, a veritable baller in the Premier League. A player that last season, played in 95% of Liverpool’s matches, showcasing that he is on another level of footballers.

Salah showed us, just why he is our captain choice for GW2, or at least in consideration for your GW2 captain armband. Scoring of a goal and an assist in week one against newly promoted Norwich City. 12 points rolling out of week one and Salah is basically a locked in captain choice for the Southampton game.

The only problem I would have, with captaining Salah this weekend is, he is coming off playing in the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea in Istanbul recently. We have to think of the possible jet-lag coming back, then going away to Southampton, it could catch up with him. It will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp takes this fact into consideration. I believe Salah will play at the weekend and Liverpool will beat Southampton at the weekend.

It will be interesting to see who picks who at the weekend. I’ll put up a poll on Twitter once this article goes live, to see who are you picking, make sure you check out @FanFootClub for more.
