If we look across the Manchester City squad on the Fantasy Premier League website, then there is a great deal of players that are truly worthy of us picking them for our sides. We’ll work from the back to front of the side and show why people why Manchester City isn’t a pipe bomb to chose from.

Starting in goal, if you are one of those Fantasy managers who are interested in going for or simply going for a heavy hitting keeper and a pure benchwarmer, then you need to pick up Ederson in the Manchester City goal.

A couple of reasons why you should pick the 6.0 priced goalkeeper are: last season, the Brazilian picked up a total of 169 points. From just over 3,400 minutes played throughout the course of the 2018/19 season, Emerson didn’t concede a goal in 20 of the 38 games in the Premier League season and even assisted once. This allowed him to secure / score 20 bonus points from saves for the Fantasy managers that owned him at different points of the season.

In defence, there are actually a couple of defenders that you can pick up to allow you to secure the much needed points from Manchester City clean sheets this season. Starting at the top, the highest priced defender at 6.5 is Aymeric Laporte who last season secured 177 points for Fantasy managers, by scoring and assisting on 3 goals and keeping 18 clean sheets, scoring 16 bonus points over the course of the season also.

If you are looking as a differential to Aymeric Laporte, then you should pick up the Englishman Kyle Walker who brought in exactly 150 points for Fantasy managers. Kyle Walker is a pace winger that gets up and down the wings and manages to cover tonnes of ground. Kyle Walker I’m hearing from the FPL Community on Twitter will outscore Laporte this season.

With Benjamin Mendy seemingly out until September, we all will be looking for cheap alternatives and we will be staying with Manchester City to show you the way. The right backs Aleksandr Zinchenko and Angelino who is an academy graduate who has been recently brought back from PSV come in at 5.5 and 5.0 a piece and Zinchenko will more than likely be used at the start of the season.

If we look towards the midfield then we have really only one option in Englishman Raheem Sterling at 12.0. Sterling outscored and outperformed his teammates throughout the course of last season. Sterling under Pep Guardiola has made the transition from good to great player scoring 17 goals and assisting 15 throughout last season.

If you are looking for alternatives to Raheem Sterling this year, firstly you will be making a cost saving by 3.5+. If he stays and doesn’t leave for a team like Bayern Munich then Leroy Sane could be used as a Sterling differential, unless Pep uses him like he does the season just gone, which is very sparingly. If you are looking to bring in Sane then, you will be spending 9.5 and can use the cost saving elsewhere in your side.

Another player who I would recommend picking up this season, had not such a great season the year gone by. Kevin de Bruyne was hindered by injuries throughout the course of the season and because of this, he actually got a price fall from 10.0 to 9.5. This could be the season that de Bruyne comes back into form and our FPL sides and Manchester City will need him if they are going to do a treble of Premier League’s, which will be difficult to do this year.

If you are looking for a cheap alternative to these players, then why not go for the Portugal international Bernardo Silva. We are expecting big things from the little Portuguese man this season, so why not somehow shoehorn Bernardo into your side for GW1.

Of course, we finish off this article at the top of the Manchester City, the strikers, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus. I believe that over the course of the season, Pep Guardiola will be using these two great players more or less alongside each other. Watch out for that one.
