If it is the case that has come out in the press recently, Harry Maguire could leave Leicester City for Manchester United soon, which will leave Brendan Rodgers with quite a bit of change to spend on his side for the 2019/20. Plus, Brendan has brought in and brought back two exciting prospects for Leicester City so far.
Leicester have brought in Ayoze Perez from relegation contenders Newcastle United, who can dovetail well with Jamie Vardy. Much like he did with Salomon Rondon up at Newcastle, the expectation is that the two will link up well together and create a multitude of goals for each other. Let’s have a look at the stats from last season.
From 2,916 minutes played last season for Newcastle United, Ayoze Perez scored 141 points in FPL. Ayoze Perez scored 29 extra points or bonus points from 12 goals and 2 assists. Leicester under Brendan Rodgers, play an exciting brand of football, much like Liverpool while Rodgers was managing them. This could work well for Perez and Vardy and create an avalanche of goals for us Fantasy managers.
Let’s move onto the on loan AS Monaco midfielder and now Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemanns. Tielemanns only had a half a season for Leicester in 2018/19, but he made quite a stir in FPL. He certainly has quite a number of fans including Hail Cheaters.
In half a season, Youri Tielemanns made waves in FPL for Leicester City the season just gone. He may have only got 65 points in FPL, but that does mean big things in FPL this upcoming season. Tielemanns comes in for a healthy 6.5 and is great bang for your buck.
Tielemans linked up very well with the likes of Jamie Vardy and James Maddison and create Fantasy memories. It was just before Brendan Rodgers joined from Celtic, Leicester had started to get back to the Leicester way, of playing attacking football and pressing the ball high up the park. That was really shown off under Rodgers.
Brendan Rodgers basically brought Jamie Vardy in from the cold, Claude Puel had left Vardy out in the cold and wanted to make his mark on the club, to his detriment. Rodgers man management style helps Leicester City and Jamie Vardy play the style of play that they were meant too.
Leicester City are able to switch up styles under Rodgers, which makes Leicester City hard to play against. Claude Puel was very strict with his formation playing a 4-2-3-1 all the time. Rodgers however, showed that he could easily switch up his formation, starting with a 4-1-4-1 formation that could easily switch to a 4-3-3 formation.
Leicester City like to play like Manchester City in so much that they use methodical build-up play. Both the City sides, pass the ball up from defence through midfield and up to the forward line and to goal. They make the other team stretch themselves too thin and can gain access through the lines.
It will be interesting to see how Leicester City and Brendan Rodgers start off the season. Especially, if Harry Maguire leaves, who do the Leicester City hierarchy allow Rodgers to bring in.
