Just having a look through their prospects in FPL, one thing if anything else jumps out at myself. It is the fact that all of their defence including their goalkeeper all come in at less than 6.0, compared to those at Manchester City and Liverpool who’s price tag for a starting defender / goalkeeper will probably cost you 6.5 minimum.
Let’s start in the Tottenham goal with Frenchman Hugo Lloris, who comes in at 5.5 and if you were to pick Lloris for Tottenham in FPL, then you could easily use Button at Brighton who is 4.0 as a “side kick” for the more established Premier League and Men’s World Cup winning goalkeeper.
In the backline, much like Hugo Lloris, Tottenham have a great batch of defenders who come in priced at 5.5 and under. If you are looking at differential picks even to the likes of Harry Maguire at Leicester City then you should look to Tottenham. I mean, look at the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen who are both priced at 5.5, both of which won 118 and 102 FPL points last year respectively.
If you are looking for alternatives to Alderweireld and Vertonghen, look to Tottenham’s wide men, Kieran Trippier, Ben Davies and the up and coming Kyle Walker-Peters. It will actually be interesting to see which of the three start out on the wing under Mauricio Pochettino along with Danny Rose out on the other side. If you are wondering if you will have the cash to bring in any of these, you will, Trippier and Davies start at 5.5 and Walker-Peters is 5.0.
Of course up top at the striker position, you have Harry Kane who is priced at 11.0, the same as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Arsenal. Could we see, Harry Kane return to his best of a season or two ago. If this happens, then the price fall could work out in Harry Kane’s favour.
Let’s come back to the Tottenham midfield. Straightaway, the three players that pop off the page is the three best players for Tottenham from last season, Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son. Ok, currently Son is injured, so for now let’s discount him and hopefully, if he is not back for the start of the season, then perhaps Dele All, Erik Lamela or Harry Winks will step up and take the mantle.
Take out the fixtures with Manchester City and Arsenal, one tough fixture and the North London Derby, Tottenham face an easy-ish start to the season. Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Southampton.
Will you be picking Tottenham Hotspur coverage at the start of the season?
