I’ve just uploaded a post called “A List of Every FPL 2019/20 Player Price Change” to the fantasybet blog where I’ve dumped all of the data along with a few of my opinions. For those just interested in the findings, I thought I’d share some of the headlines below. For those interested in all of the data, feel free to take it, explore it, and share your findings in the comments.
Enjoy!
Player Price Changes Per Position
| Position | Changes | Increased | Decreased | Net Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GK | 13 | 9 | 4 | 2.5 |
| DF | 64 | 30 | 34 | 3.5 |
| MF | 61 | 33 | 28 | 5 |
| FW | 22 | 11 | 11 | 0.5 |
| 160 | 83 | 77 | 11.5 |
Fantasy Premier League have changed the prices of 160 players ahead of the 2019/20 FPL season. 51.87% increased in price, 48.13% decreased in price.
Despite the perception that players are significantly more expensive this season, the net increase from this season’s price changes is actually just +£11.5m.
Let’s have a quick look at the main risers/fallers in each position. Usually, I’d start with Goalkeepers, but this season there was no rise or fall greater than £0.5. So actually the main risers and fallers are all 13 of them.
Biggest Changes (Defenders)
| Player | Team | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Alexander-Arnold | LIV | +£2.0 |
| Wan-Bissaka | CPL | +£1.5 |
| Doherty | WOL | +£1.5 |
| Zappacosta | CHE | -£1.0 |
| Otamendi | MCI | -£1.0 |
| Aurier | TOT | -£1.0 |
Biggest Changes (Midfielders)
| Player | Team | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Mane | LIV | +£2.0 |
| Fraser | BOU | +£2.0 |
| Richarlison | EVE | +£1.5 |
| Hudson-Odoi | CHE | +£1.5 |
| McNeil | BUR | +£1.5 |
| Brooks | BOU | +£1.5 |
| Keita | LIV | -£1.5 |
| Sanchez | MUN | -£3.5 |
Biggest Changes (Forwards)
| Player | Team | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Wilson | BOU | +£2.0 |
| Jimenez | WOL | +£2.0 |
| Rashford | MUN | +£1.5 |
| Kane | TOT | -£1.5 |
| Lukaku | MUN | -£2.5 |
Biggest Risers (Team)
| Team | Changes | Up | Down | Net |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wolves | 11 | 9 | 2 | +£7.0 |
Wolves’ stock increased the most with a net of +£7.0m from 9 risers and 2 fallers. This was somewhat expected after the newly-promoted side finished 7th in their return to the top flight.
| Team | Changes | Up | Down | Net |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bournemouth | 9 | 7 | 2 | +£6.5 |
Bournemouth, more surprisingly, place 2nd. Their net price increased by £6.5m, despite finishing two places lower in the 18/19 season than the 17/18 campaign. The increase was largely due to individuals, with Wilson, Fraser & Brooks accounting for a combined increase of £5.5m alone.
Are Chelsea “better value”?
| Team | Changes | Up | Down | Net |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chelsea | 10 | 4 | 6 | -£0.5 |
The most interesting, but perhaps least obvious, in my opinion, is Chelsea. The general consensus is that their players are better value in FPL this year, due to there not being many premium players in their squad.
However, with a net decrease of just £0.5m, it’s fair to say that their players are essentially the same value as last season. The departure of Sarri, Hazard, Higuain, etc, arguably makes them worse FPL assets though, depending on how you expect them to kick on.
Biggest Fallers (Team)
| Team | Changes | Up | Down | Net |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Man United | 15 | 5 | 10 | -£6.5 |
| Tottenham | 15 | 4 | 11 | -£5.0 |
If you’re looking for value, then the two biggest fallers; Manchester United (-6.5m) and Tottenham (-5.0m) could present some fantastic options with Sanchez (-£3.5m), Kane (-£1.5m), Alli (£-0.5m), Eriksen (£-0.5m) along with 26 of their teammates dropping in value.
