It should be the same for FPL players as well, where United are concerned.
In this article I shall take you through their season fixtures and state why you should consider Manchester United in FPL throughout the season. We will not look at their players but at the fixtures.
At the start of the season, first game out of the traps, they face a tough fixture in Chelsea at home. I do not expect anyone to pick United assets against Chelsea, maybe if you are a maverick, then yes, but other than that time, no!
Get the tough Chelsea game out of the way, then it is easy enough fixtures against the likes of Wolves, Palace, West Ham etc before their next tough games both at home against Arsenal and Liverpool, with an away game to Newcastle United. During the time between August 17th – September 21st, I will be picking Manchester United assets.
Between September 28th and October 19th, do not pick United assets simply because of the Arsenal and Liverpool fixtures. We simply do not know how Manchester United will be setup and what form they will be in coming into those games.
After this time, it is time to bring in Manchester United assets once again. From October 26th, Manchester United face easy enough fixtures once more and Fantasy managers, it is time to bring in United players once more. This is because, United face Norwich, Bournemouth, Brighton, Sheffield United and Aston Villa on November 30th.
This again is before, this time around United face two tough fixtures, one after another at the start of December as United face both Tottenham Hotspur and City rivals, Manchester City. During this time again, be wary of picking Manchester United assets as the Tottenham game is at home and the Manchester City game is away.
Now, there is always a time during the season that it is a definite “stay away from” for some teams, Manchester United included. That time, I believe is between January and March. During that time they face the other big name teams from last season’s top six. Home: Manchester City, Away: Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.
That brings us up to March 14th – after that, it is again time to bring back in Manchester United coverage in FPL. This is because there last 8 games look good on paper, which means that they could have a big say how the final six positions play out.
Manchester United’s last eight games look tight and a pure gold rush for Fantasy managers. From March 21st – May 17th, United’s fixtures consist of: Sheffield United, Brighton, Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Southampton, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Leicester City.
If I were picking my team for the last eight fixtures of the season, I would definitely be picking 2 – 3 Manchester United players for the so called “run-in”.
In conclusion, do not discount Manchester United players over the course of the season. Definitely, have one or two Red Devils in your squad throughout the season.
